If you are looking for a Spring race to complement your running of the Baltimore Running Festival, we encourage you to consider participating in the Frederick Running Festival held Sunday, May 6, 2012.  Frederick is Maryland's second largest city and the race is a hidden gem.   Race registration IS NOW OPEN and you can get the Bet Prices if you register before Nov 13th

If you choose to do the Maryland Double by completing the half marathon Frederick & the full or half-marathon in Baltimore in the same year you will receive a special third medal.  Runners who register for the double online receive an additional $10 savings and are permitted to sign up for Baltimore six weeks before that race opens for registration at the best price .   Runners who do both half marathons will receive the smaller medal, while those who do the half in Frederick and the full marathon in Baltimore will receive the larger Double Medal.  Registration for the Double can only be done through the Frederick site.

Throughout the race weekend, there were several contests and drawings where you could win great prizes.  Below are some of the winners of some of the contests:

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield conducted a prize drawing at their booth at the expo.  Three great prizes were awarded to these participants

• Christy Lewis of Churchville, MD won the GRAND PRIZE of a trip to a marathon of his choice.
• Mat Derrick of Harpers Ferry, WV won SECOND PRIZE of a treadmill.
• Marty Sharp of Cody, WY won THIRD PRIZE of a $250 Gift Card to Sports Authority.

The winners of the Corrigan Sports iGift Bag contest where participants guessed the number of finishers under certain times in each race are below.  Winners can select an free individual entry into a select Corrigan Sports race in 2012.

• Kathryn Konstantas of Ellicott City, MD, Jeff Hasenauer of Baltimore, MD AND Sergio Chacon of Rockville, MD all guessed that 508 runners would finish the full marathon in under 3:45:00.  The actual number was 509. 
• Sarah Grannemann of Baltimore, MD guessed that 7024 runners would finish the half-marathon in under 2:34:56.  The actual number was 7028. 
• Aaron Tripp of Baltimore, MD guessed that 178 runners would finish the 5K in under 23:45.  The actual number was 178.

Age Group Awards and Prize Money

The 30-Day waiting period for results discrepancies is almost over.  Once we reach that threshold, we will have a list of local award winners who will be able to claim their prize at the Tent Sale or at CSE Headquarters.  Non-local runners can have their award mailed to them.  Stay tuned for the official posting of the awards on Nov 15th.

If you participated in the team relay and finished among the top teams, STAY TUNED.  We have gathered some awesome prizes from some of our sponsors including Oriole Jerseys and T-Shirts, Gift Certificates from Outback, Phillips, and several other prizes.  We will be mailing these out to the team captain of the winning teams in the coming weeks.
