Each of the Alliance races were selected based on their size, legacy/history, growth potential, and efficiency of race operations.
Lee Corrigan, president of CSE, said, “The USA TODAY Sports Active Alliance seal of approval tells runners our events meet the highest standard in the industry. We take great pride in delivering quality in every aspect of our races, while simultaneously offering great value.”
“The USA Today Sports Active Alliance is honored to have two of the finest marathons as part of our running network,” said Bruce Revman, Executive Director of the Active Alliance. “The inclusion of both the Baltimore and Oakland Running Festivals were very important races to us, as they represent organizational excellence, great runner experiences and take place in big city markets.”
The Oakland Running Festival, another CSE event, also received USA TODAY Sports Active Alliance approval. Overall, only 14 events across the country meet the standard to be part of the alliance.
