ERNST & YOUNG CHARITY CHASER

Jay Ridder of Ernst & Young will stand at the Baltimore Running Festival start line with 5,000 other racers on October 13. But after the gun fires, he’ll watch them all stream by before starting his 26.2-mile journey through the city streets. As the Charity Chaser, Jay will race from behind to pass as many runners as he can. For each, he’ll earn $5 for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). This is the second consecutive year Ernst & Young has signed on as the Charity Chaser sponsor to benefit NFTE, which provides programs that inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, recognize business opportunities and plan for successful futures. Jay and Ernst & Young will also raise funds through a donation page that will directly benefit NFTE.
Jay is the Office Managing Partner of Ernst & Young’s Baltimore office. He has more than 20 years of experience with Ernst & Young serving life and health, property and casualty, and managed care insurance companies. Jay previously served as Insurance Industry Leader for Ernst & Young’s Mid-Atlantic region and as the Ernst & Young National Practice Managed Care Leader. He is a CPA licensed in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. He received his BA in accountancy from Franklin & Marshall College.
The Baltimore Running Festival will be Jay’s seventh marathon in the last seven years. He has completed the New York City and Philadelphia marathons along with numerous half marathons and 10-milers.
